Tweezerman's Badger Shaving Brush

This high calibre shaving brush is made of 100% badger hair, the preferable bristle for creating a lush lather. The thickly filled brush head is perfect for holding and distributing lather. Helps soften and raise the beard whilst carefully exfoliating the skin in prepping for a close, easy shave.

Value: This is probably the best value pure badger bristle brush on the market. This is an excellent starter brush to those of you who are switching over to Safety Razors for classic wet shaving.

Brush Head: The brush head is densely packed and reasonably soft. You'll not only enjoy close shaves that a Badger Brush affords but comfort as well, turning shaving into a sheer pleasure morning routine. The bristles are large and come with precisely the right measure of stiffness. This brush is twice as efficient as some cheaper boar brush versions and you'll be reasonably impressed by how promptly it lathers up.

Soap: Badger brushes generally require less soap to make a good lather than boar's hair brushes. Badger brushes incline to carry more water than boar (and hush, plastic) brushes. Compound this with a fine shaving soap (not the cheap stuff you might get at discount stores) and your face will have the finest face prep in advance of your shave.

Maintenance: The shaving brush includes a flat bottomed handle. This is so that it can be set down conveniently while shaving. However, you should never allow it to lie there drying on it's handle. It's vital that you carefully rinse the brush after using it and Hang it up with the Bristles facing downwardly as drying. You will be surprised how much longer you will extend the life of your Badger Brush by doing so. Something that most new safety and single blade users neglect to do.

Lather: To whip up the lather, make sure to keep your finger tips grasping the base of the bristles where they meet the handle while keeping the flat of the handle pressed against the palm of your hand.

For best results with less wear on the bristles, make sure you whip up the lather by using the tips of the bristles only.

Rinsing: To rinse the brush properly after use, hold it's bristles up under a gentle stream of water. Then take the brush out from the stream of water and hold the brush with the bristles facing downwards and wring the bristles by softly squeezing the brush between your thumb and fingers. Next, holding the brush where the handle and bristles meet with your thumb and forefinger, gently shake the brush 2 or 3 times. Don't shake too tough, this will just hurt the brush causing some bristles to untimely fall out.

Lastly, just hang the brush with the handle up for drying.

Handle: Unlike several boar and badger brushes made from plastic or ceramic material, this one is made from wood and built to keep going.

Bottom line, it merely makes your face feel wonderful and holds the soap lather well for a second lather if you require a truly close shave. Hey and don't skimp on the other stuff. Buy a good stand to hold the brush, a durable double-edged safety razor, and some quality soap. I purchased the Col. Conk kit with a metal stand (holds this brush perfectly), a Merkur Long Handle Safety Razor, and Col. Conk Super Size Shave Mug with Almond Soap. This fine quality badger brush will soon become part of your day-to-day manly routine by turning the necessary grind of shaving into an pleasant part of your day that you will rightly look forward to.
